history

While most notably found in Ul'dah's pearl lane, U'shaya was not born there. In her earliest days as an infant she could be found among the Drake Tribe of the Sagolii. Earlier than she can remember, she was taken from her home and raised in a private orphanage in Ul'dah.Her upbringing in the orphanage is shrouded in mystery, for she refuses to speak of it to all but her closest loved ones. It is clear that she was well educated and trained from an early age, yet her treatment was not without its drawbacks. Isolated and alienated from her peers, she rarely knew any form of companionship.Eventually she escaped the isolation she was brought up in and made friends who gave her an opportunity to grow beyond what her childhood had made of her, but the scars of that time still run deep. She's been associated with a number of Free Companies in the past years, and even attempted to found one of her own, with mixed results.

Appearance

U'Shaya stands just over five fulms tall with a lithe build that wouldn't be out of place among tribal huntresses, complete with scars earned from dangerous exploits. Bright blonde hair crowns her head; oft neglected to a lazy, partly kept bedhead with a braid added in to reflect her tribal heritage. One pale golden eye sits in her left socket, while the other generally remains covered by an eyepatch. When the right eye is revealed, it's a gruesome sight, not gouged out but rather bloodshot and scarred, the iris covered by a gory looking disc of blood that had clot within the eye itself and left it blind.

Personality

Once, U'shaya presented herself as an apathetic individual with no regard for emotions or the good or ill they can bring. To some, she seemed a soulless husk of a woman, though one capable of earning her trust may have glimpsed the wounded spirit beneath the mask.While she still maintains a mask to separate her private self from her public self, U'shaya has learned to allow smaller hints of emotion to filter through. Most often in the form of an amused smirk, a skeptical stare or a roll of her eye; she's gone from repressed and isolated to sardonic and crass. To those who care to get to know her she can be a steadfast and loyal friend; if one who's prone to oblivious mistakes that hurt the people she cares about.

Skills and Abilities

- U'shaya possesses a naturally gifted intellect that has been molded and shaped into a veritable sponge for knowledge on all sorts of topics.
- U'shaya has been trained to hone her already keen senses further. Despite the lack of vision in her right eye she is generally quite aware of what goes on around her, doubly so when it involves hearing.
- U'shaya is quick and agile, with a decent punch behind her arm and relentless training with a variety of light and exotic weapons. Striking power and strength isn't her strong suit, speed and precision is.
- Highly adept at Aetherial manipulation, though not in any manner of traditional magicks.
- Possesses the Echo, though hers manifests only rarely; most often when she comes into contact with an item charged with a potent emotional or aetherial imprint.

Roleplaying Hooks

- Rumours say that U'shaya used to be one of the Lane's resident information brokers, but she's long since disavowed the line of work and made her distance from it.
- Those familiar with the Drake Tribe of Miqo'te in the Sagolii Desert might notice the familial similarities she shares with them, and the occasional visit she makes to the Forgotten Springs.
- People in need of mercenaries may hear secondhand of U'shaya, who has a tendency to be discreet when handling her jobs.
- Despite her distance from the criminal underworld, her history with it is impossible to erase. She made a number of enemies, especially in regards to those who raised her.
- A bounty is currently outstanding for her in Ishgard; wanted alive by a noble for information regarding the death of her brother. The Eorzean Alliance hasn't endorsed it, but Ishgardian law enforcement hasn't disavowed the bounty either.

- This character's backstory and RP includes some rather dark themes that may make some people uncomfortable. If something I do crosses a line for you, please let me know and I will do my utmost to keep that part of my RP away from you! We do this for fun, no need to be stressed about it!
- When I refer to gil in my RP, I tend to equate it to Japanese Yen rather than US Dollars. As a shorthand, 100 gil, to me, is equivalent to 1 USD.
- ERP is possible, but not really the focus of my attention. Still, if I'm bumming around the quicksands, no harm in asking. /c/ available if I feel like it.
